A wellness store and dispensary has re-opened in Selma after two years out of the city.

What you need to know

ZAR Wellness—now owned by Asad Shalami—held a grand re-opening ceremony on Oct. 18.

Shalami told Community Impact that he left the ZAR location he co-owned in 2023 and the store was renamed Zen Wellness until Shalami purchased the business back. Shalami then reverted the name back to ZAR Wellness.

ZAR Wellness sells a range of CBD and THC products, ranging from edibles and tinctures to topicals and flowers.

Digging deeper

Shalami said there is a "whole world of cannabis" the business offers that erases the "misconception" that just THC products help things like sleep issues, pain and anxiety.

A veteran himself, Shalami said ZAR Wellness offers a 22% discounts for veterans as part of its Mission 22—raising awareness about the topic of veteran suicide. He said CBD and THC products helped him with chronic insomnia diagnosed when he was in the U.S. Army.

ZAR Wellness has locations throughout San Antonio, Houston and Dallas metro areas. Shalami said the Selma location is treated as a flagship for the company.
