The Chamber looks to improve commerce in Schertz, Cibolo, Selma and surrounding areas through various initiatives, such as luncheons, leadership programs, mentoring and community advocacy.
The organization has two offices at 1730 Schertz Parkway, Schertz and 9374 Valhalla, Selma.
Digging deeper
The Chamber began in 2005 as Schertz Chamber of Commerce, but changed its name a decade later at the advice of President and CEO Maggie Titterington.
Titterington has been in the role for 15 years and has seen the chamber go from 90 starting members to 620 current members.
"We all grew up here," Titterington told Community Impact. "A lot of the business owners that are part of this chamber I went to high school with, or they know each other because of [their] families ... what we do here at our chamber is we cultivate those type of atmospheres."
The Chamber also embraces membership from other communities ranging from Selma, Universal City and Live Oak to New Braunfels and beyond, she added.
What else?
Titterington said they hope to add a third office space in Cibolo within the next year or so. The organization will celebrate its anniversary with a luncheon June 17. The luncheon will honor 17 of the 29 starting members of the Schertz Business Club, a club that The Chamber got its roots from, Titterington said.
