The San Antonio International Airport will begin construction on Phase I of a multiphase terminal curbside and roadway development March 23.
The details
Part of the Terminal Development Project, Phase I will include a zero-curb transition connecting the roadway to the future Terminal C, improving accessibility and loading. Phase I will also include construction on the Terminal C canopy.
Jesus Saenz, director of airports for the city of San Antonio, said the zero-curb transition will allow passengers to move more smoothly and provide easier access for disabled travelers.
“It is a very well thought-out design that we have put together, and we feel very confident that it's going to make a big difference, not just as we're going through the construction today, but long term,” Saenz said.

Construction will be at the far end of Terminal B on the upper and lower levels. Two of the four lanes at the far end of both levels of Terminal B will be closed to allow for roadway work. To minimize impacts to passengers and airport partners, construction will occur overnight when possible. Roadway construction is estimated to last 24-25 months, Saenz said.

During construction, passengers and drivers are advised to arrive early and use alternatives to curbside pickup and drop-off.
Alternatives include:
Short-Term Parking Garage: The garage offers three-hour parking spaces for picking up and dropping off passengers. The first hour in the garage costs $5, with each additional hour costing $4.
Cell Phone Waiting Lot: The free lot has free Wi-Fi connection and is open 24/7.

What’s next
Sam Rodriguez, deputy director of operations, said the Terminal Development Project will reconfigure the lower level lanes to separate traffic from Terminals A, B and C.
