1. I-10 and Loop 1604 interchange project

Project: Part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange project will consist of eight flyover ramps, roundabouts, a high-occupancy vehicle lane and other interchange improvements.

Update: The Texas Department of Transportation opened the fifth flyover ramp Oct. 5, connecting westbound I-10 to eastbound Loop 1604. Known as Segment 2, the interchange is 65% done.

Timeline: 2022-2027


Cost: $463 million

Funding source: state and federal funds

2. Classen Road (Classen Spur to Knollcreek Drive) project

Project: The project will build several roadway improvements, such as adding sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches, a multibox drainage culvert and bicycle lanes.


Update: Currently in the design phase, the project will widen the roadway from 78 feet to 86 feet within the right of way. The project will add four 11-foot lanes, a 12-foot turn lane, a 10-foot shared-use path and a 6-foot sidewalk.

Timeline: summer 2026-winter 2028

Cost: $10.33 million

Funding source: 2022 General Obligation Bond, the San Antonio Water System


3. Loop 1604 from Redland Road to Judson Road

Project: Part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, the Loop 1604 from Redland Road to Judson Road project aims to upgrade the transit corridor from a four-lane expressway to a 10-lane expressway. Additional upgrades include reconfiguring the layout of auxiliary lanes and entrance and exit ramps and adding a HOV lane in each direction.

Update: Currently under construction, the project is Segment 5 of the larger project and is 21% complete

Timeline: 2025-2028


Cost: $205 million

Funding source: state and federal funds

4. District 10 Pedestrian Mobility project

Project: Part of the city of San Antonio’s 2022-27 bond program, the project seeks to widen pedestrian access. The project includes the construction of new sidewalks, connecting existing sidewalks, adding bike paths, installing streetlights, adding crosswalks and improving access to public transportation.


Update: Currently under construction, associated projects for District 10 include adding sidewalks on Jones Maltsberger and Autry Pond roads, Greenwich Boulevard from Eisenhauer Road to Brees Boulevard and from Eisenhauer Road to Northridge Drive, and on El Charro Street from El Sendero Street to La Posita Street.

Funding source: 2022 General Obligation Bond

5. District 8 Pedestrian Mobility project

Project: Part of the city of San Antonio’s 2022-27 bond program, the project seeks to widen pedestrian access. The project includes the construction of new sidewalks, connecting existing sidewalks, adding bike paths, installing streetlights, adding crosswalks and improving access to public transportation.

Update: Currently under construction, associated projects for District 8 include improving sidewalks and mobility on Hamilton Wolfe from Ewing Halsell Drive to Tom Slick Drive, and connecting sidewalks on Tom Slick Drive from Hamilton Wolfe to existing sidewalks.

Timeline: fall 2023-summer 2026
