Mexican ultra-low-cost airline Viva Aerobus is now offering San Antonio International Airport travelers a new direct option to a Mexican destination—Guadalajara.

What’s happening

According to an Aug. 1 news release, the new nonstop flight from SA Airport to Guadalajara will begin operating on Dec. 2, four times a week.

The release stated SA Airport is one of eight new routes being launched from Guadalajara Airport, half of which will fly to U.S. destinations.

What they’re saying

Juan Carlos Zuazua, Viva’s CEO, said the new routes will solidify his airline's presence in the Mexican and U.S. markets, and offer passengers more options for recreation and business.

“Guadalajara is another key Viva base. The four new routes to the USA will strengthen the region’s international connectivity. We see great potential in the Guadalajara market,” Zuazua said in a statement.

Jesus Saenz, city of San Antonio airports director, said he and his colleagues continue to work with city leaders and airlines to grow the number of direct flight options for passengers flying out of SA Airport.

“Our team continues to work to expand nonstop destinations from [SA Airport] both domestically and internationally,” Saenz said in a statement. “2024 has been another record-breaking year for us. The more you choose to fly from [SA Airport] and support our airport, the more that airlines notice and expand service.”
