Delayed by previous warnings of inclement weather, contractors handling the Loop 1604 expansion project in North San Antonio have resumed with nightly closures of the Loop 1604/I-10 intersection as part of their work.

The background

According to Texas Department of Transportation representatives, a nightly closure originally scheduled for the first weekend of February is taking place 9 p.m.-5 a.m. daily now through Feb. 11.

Contractors will fully close the eastbound main lanes of Loop 1604 from the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp to the Lockhill Selma Road entrance ramp, the main I-10 westbound exit ramp to the Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes, and the eastbound I-10 cloverleaf exit to the Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes.

These closures will allow workers to erect steel girders to prop up the eastbound direct connector, TxDOT representatives said.
