All six of San Antonio’s Baptist Health System hospitals have received a top national ranking of an A grade from the The Leapfrog Group, an independent watchdog organization that assigns letter grades to U.S. general hospitals based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients.
According to a Nov. 16 news release, this national distinction celebrates Baptist Health System’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.
“This is important for the community to know as they count on us to keep them and their families safe while in our care every day,” BHS group CEO Matt Stone said in a statement.
The Leapfrog Group’s grading system is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public, the release said, adding hospital safety grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.
Leapfrog Group President and CEO Leah Binder applauded Baptist Health System’s leadership and workforce for having commitment to safety and transparency.
“An A safety grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance so that they can best protect patients. Your hospitals’ teams should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement,” Binder said in a statement.
