During its Dec. 16 meeting, the Bexar County Commissioners Court approved for the fourth and final phase of an interactive, electronic history of Bexar County known as the "Story Maps, Seeds of Texas Project.”
Two-minute impact
Designed to be a free-to-access educational and research tool, the final phase will focus on the county’s history from 1945 to the present day. Created through a collaboration between The University of Texas at San Antonio and Bexar County, the project will explore a variety of historical subjects, such as urban expansion and suburban development, civil rights, the creation of tourist attractions, local arts and culture and the reduction of the military’s presence within Bexar County.
According to county documents, the project will produce a minimum of 10 modules and three Community Archive Modules. A core part of the project will be its “Bexarcentric” focus, which will highlight Bexar County history in a larger context.
