During the April 15 Hollywood Park City Council meeting, Frank Jaster, senior project manager for the firm KCI Technologies, presented rough plans for six road repair projects.

The overview

According to Jaster, the projects were chosen due to specific structural issues and address structural deterioration, such as pavement cracking.

Projects include:
  • Major reconstruction on Donella Drive and William Classen Drive due to water issues
  • Adding a horizontal French Drain at Donella Drive and William Classen Drive
  • Repairing damage around box culverts
  • Concrete and intersection repair

Jaster said the total costs of these projects is estimated at $306,013, and includes design work, construction, inspection and a 25% contingency to cover unexpected expenses.

After the presentation, City Council unanimously approved the ordinance, authorizing Mayor Chester Drash and Jaster to solicit bids for the projects and begin design work. Spending for the design phase was capped at $75,000.

Looking ahead

Once the design phase has been completed, City Council will review the designs, take public bids and approve a construction project.
