According to city documents, the ordinance ratifies the payment the payment of $266,667 for services provided by the institute. Additionally, the amendments extends the contract with the Environmental Systems Research Institute to provide geographic information system services for a total cost of $2.4 million from Oct. 19, 2024-Oct. 18, 2027.
According to city documents, funding for the first year—in the amount of $800,000—will be taken from the Information Technology Services Fund in the fiscal year 2024-25 adopted budget. Funding for subsequent years is contingent upon city council’s approval of the annual budget.
According to ESRI’s website, GIS business services include creating, managing, analyzing and mapping a variety of data.
The context
The agreement between the Environmental Systems Research Institute and the city allows San Antonio’s Information Technology Services Department to support the GIS business needs for all city departments, as well as open government initiatives. The agreement allows ITSD to support desktop and web-based GIS business needs across a common platform and software suite.
