Though San Antonio City Hall and municipal offices will be closed Nov. 28-29, multiple city services will remain open or partially in service over the Thanksgiving holiday.

What you need to know

According to a news release, public safety and emergency services will remain open throughout the holiday as well as some general services.

General services schedule:
  • The 3-1-1 call center will be open for urgent concerns, such as traffic signal malfunctions and loose animal requests, from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Nov. 28-29
  • Code enforcement officers will be available for inspections and emergency coverage.
  • Municipal Court magistrate services and SAPD's detention center will remain open
  • All city parks and trails will remain open
  • Limited Fitness in the Park classes will be held
  • The Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be closed Nov. 28 and will be open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 29
Waste collection services schedules:
  • Garbage, recycling and organics collections schedule will adjust their schedules, with Nov. 28 collections moving to Nov. 29 and Nov. 29 collections moving to Nov. 30
  • Bitters Brush site, 1800 Wurzbach Parkway, will be closed Nov. 28-29 and open Nov. 30
  • All four bulky waste drop-off centers and the Household Hazardous Waste drop off center will be closed 28-29 and open Nov. 30
Entertainment and cultural sites schedules include:
  • La Villita and Market Square shops will be closed Nov. 28 and re-open Nov. 29.
  • Alamodome offices and box office will be closed Nov. 28, with the box office open from Nov. 29-30
  • Spanish Governors Palace will be closed Nov. 28 and open Nov. 29
Services closed over the holiday include:
  • All public libraries
  • San Antonio Municipal Court
  • Child Care Services administrative offices
  • Homeless Connections Hotline and veteran services
  • City of San Antonio Street Outreach
  • City of San Antonio Homeless Encampment Team
  • Neighborhood and housing services
  • Office of the city clerk, including vital records
