Officials with the Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District said they are seeking applicants for appointment to the district’s Precinct 3 board seat, as Director Harris Dickey recently resigned.
The TGRGCD is charged with conserving and recharging Trinity Aquifer groundwater across northern Bexar County north of Loop 1604.
According to district officials, board applicants must be a registered voter living in Precinct 3, which covers a large swath of north central Bexar County west of US 281, with some of the precinct stretching westward past I-10.
Precinct 3 includes the Timberwood Park subdivision, The Rim and La Cantera retail centers as well as military training bases Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley. It also features Leon, Salado and Panther Springs creeks.
District officials said the appointee must be able to attend board meetings and be willing to commit time to oversight of district responsibilities. Board meetings typically occur at 9:30 a.m. the second Thursday of each month at Helotes City Hall.
District officials said the appointment term ends in May 2024 when the appointee would have to run for re-election to retain the position for a four-year term.
In December, the TGRGCD board appointed Katrina Waring Castillo to the Precinct 5 board seat vacated by Jerry Forster. Castillo has more than 25 years of experience in information technology leadership, data management, program management and application development.
District officials said interested applicants may call the TGRGCD office at 210-698-1155 to discuss board duties and the application process.
