The Courthouse venue offers chef-driven dining and pickleball in New Braunfels

After a year of construction, The Courthouse—a 25,000-square-foot pickleball, padel and restaurant venue—opened its doors to the New Braunfels community Nov. 4.

Co-owner Diego Sotelo said The Courthouse was "very unique," and is something the city needed in the New Braunfels Town Center at Creekside shopping center.

The Courthouse has six indoor pickleball courts and four outdoor padel courts. The venue offers equipment rentals and certified coaching staff.

Locally owned diner now open in Universal City

A new diner has opened its doors in Northeast San Antonio.


The details

Grill House Burgers opened in Universal City at 3142 Pat Booker Road, Ste. 150, on Sept. 15.

The restaurant is locally owned by Zack Aly. Although this is Aly's first time owning a restaurant, he said he has worked for other burger joints in the past, which is what inspired him to open his own.

“I’m taking the ideas from those other places and bringing them all together here,” Aly told Community Impact.

The Hitching Post restaurant now open within Selma's Retama Park

A new dining option—called The Hitching Post—is now open within Selma's Retama Park.

The gist


The Hitching Post, located at 1 Retama Parkway, Ste. 100, opened Nov. 5 and serves a selection of wings, sandwiches, burgers, salads and desserts. The restaurant also offers a drink menu featuring classic cocktails.

Matt Coxe, Retama Park's food and beverage manager, said there was demand for a new restaurant from people living around Retama, particularly south of I-35.

Smoothie King updates opening timeline for Schertz Station location

The new location of Smoothie King, pegged for the Schertz Station development, has a new opening timeframe.


The update

In an email to Community Impact, Brett LeVecchio, vice president of corporate communications at Smoothie King, said the Schertz Station location will be open in late December. Community Impact previously reported that Smoothie King would be open in mid-November or early December.

Boerne-based Tre Pizzeria to open new location in San Antonio Airport

Boerne-based Tre Pizzeria is opening a second location in Terminal A at the San Antonio International Airport in mid-November.

The details

Owned by Crystal, Jake and Jason Dady, the new location will feature travel-friendly foods, such as pizzas, salads and sandwiches.

“We're taking over where the pizza place was at Terminal A, so it was a natural fit for us to go with Tre Pizzeria,” Jason Dady said.
