1. The Hop Doctor is the new name of the craft beer bar last known as Big Hops Huebner. The bar’s new owners formally announced the name change Jan. 27, saying the site is no longer part of the local Big Hops chain, but that the same employees are staying on.2. Toro Kitchen and Bar, specializing in Spanish cuisine, relocated Feb. 5 to a larger space at 115 N. Loop 1604 E., Ste. 1100, within its same original retail center home in Stone Oak. Toro, which had occupied Suite 1105 since 2017, is undergoing a soft opening phase at the new space until a grand opening takes place in late February, according to representatives with Gusto Group USA, the venture that owns and operates Toro. Gusto Group representatives also said another of their ventures, Books—A Whiskey Society, a library-inspired, speakeasy-style lounge, will open early this summer at the former Toro site in Suite 1105. The new bar, also owned and operated by Gusto Group, will have a curated selection of Scotch, rye and bourbon whiskeys alongside cigars, light bites and live jazz music.
