A popular shopping, dining and entertainment district in northwest San Antonio is recognizing 20 years since its inception this September.

The history

The Shops at La Cantera first opened to the public in September 2005, according to a news release from the shopping destination.

As September approaches, the shops announced a 20th anniversary celebration in a news release.

The pet-friendly outdoor shopping center has several storefronts, including a Lego store, luxury stores like Chanel and Dion, an Apple store and more.


They also host a variety of community events and concerts throughout the year to celebrate San Antonio culture and diversity, according to the news release.

What’s happening

There will be a series of free community events held at the shops to commemorate the anniversary, as follows:
  • Sept. 11: Two Tons of Steel Free Concert, 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 13: Live Catrina historical exhibit, 2 p.m.
  • Sept. 19: Yoga and Animal Defense League Pet Adoption, 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 20: Wellness Workout with Lifetime Fitness, 9 a.m.
