The city of San Antonio has extended the application deadline for its Façade Improvement Grant Program to Oct. 31.
The background
According to a news release, this program offers grants to San Antonio small-business owners and/or tenants of commercial properties to support exterior upgrades to active small-business spaces.
Qualified projects in identified areas may receive grants from $5,000 to $50,000 for approved, applicable project costs. Applicants must meet the full list of eligibility criteria, including geographic priority area requirements for proposed projects.
Qualified costs include proposed work related to improving a business’s facade, landscape, and signage.

Grant awardees will be announced in December. The city will offer information sessions on the grant program, when small-business owners may ask questions about the program, the release states:
- Oct. 4, 10:30–11:30 a.m., Central Library Auditorium, 600 Soledad St., San Antonio
- Oct. 10, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Forest Hills Library, 5245 Ingram Road, San Antonio
The city will also hold application day events, where small-business owners may get direct help with starting or completing an application:
- Oct. 11, 1-4 p.m., Southside First Economic Development Council, 2130 SW Military Drive, Ste. 202, San Antonio
- Oct. 17, 1-4 p.m., Forest Hills Library, 5245 Ingram Road, San Antonio
- Oct. 23, 1-4 p.m., Westside Education and Training Center Library, 610 SW 41st St., San Antonio
