The Security Service Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of Security Service Federal Credit Union, announced March 14 it donated $2,500 to Daily Bread Ministries of San Antonio—money that will be used to help the nonprofit buy a mix of shelf-stable dry goods and fresh, cold food items to help feed approximately 2,100 people.
Daily Bread Ministries Executive Director Marcus Walker said his organization helped more than 85,000 individuals in 2022 through their food programs.
“Inflation and fuel costs have negatively affected many trying to recover financially, and with donations like this from the Security Service Charitable Foundation, the number of individuals we serve this year is on track to be the same if not slightly greater,” Walker said in a statement.
According to a news release, SSCF’s donation will help Daily Bread Ministries get a semitruck load of $1,000 worth of dry goods containing products such as grain, cereals and pasta, which collectively will feed 900 individuals.
