The Security Service Charitable Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Security Service Federal Credit Union, recently made a $2,500 donation to the Children’s Hunger Fund of San Antonio that will be used to provide 300 food-insecure families with pantry staples, a news release said.
“There are people in our community who lack access to a basic human need, which is food,” said Jesse Reyes, the director of distribution and volunteers for Children’s Hunger Fund. “Donations like this from the Security Service Charitable Foundation make a world of difference to our families in need.”
The release said the SSCF’s donation will help Children’s Hunger Fund provide 300 Food Paks, a box of pantry staples that can feed a family of four for about a week.
Each Food Pak costs the organization roughly $8 each and contains approximately 7-8 pounds of food. Each one of the Food Paks is given directly to a child in need, the release said.
