The Security Service Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of Security Service Federal Credit Union, donated $2,500 to the nonprofit Madonna Center of San Antonio.
This donation will be used to fund the annual costs of the senior citizens program, which provides isolated and financially struggling seniors with meals, activities and transportation, according to representatives with the Madonna Center, a nonprofit that provides senior adults meals as well as social and physical activities five days a week. There are approximately 100 seniors enrolled with an average daily attendance of 35, a March 7 news release said.
Madonna Center Executive Director Roger Caballero said his organization hopes they can help feed seniors who might not otherwise know where their next meal is coming from and also provide a variety of activities to help combat isolation and depression.
“This donation from the Security Service Charitable Foundation means that we’re able to consistently provide our services and help improve the quality of life for the seniors we serve,” Caballero said in a statement.
