Wonders and Worries, a nonprofit that helps Texas children and teenagers cope with a parent’s serious illness, achieved Level 1 Trauma-Informed Care certification from The Ecumenical Center in San Antonio.
According to a news release, representatives from Wonders and Worries and The Ecumenical Center gathered at Wonders and Worries’ north San Antonio office May 9 for a ceremony commemorating the certification. The Ecumenical Center is Bexar County's trauma-informed care certifying entity for the South Texas Trauma-Informed Care Consortium, the release states.
Mary Beth Fisk, Ecumenical Center CEO and executive director, said supporting children who may be struggling to cope with a parent’s serious illness requires immense sensitivity.
“We applaud Wonders and Worries in working to ensure their engagements and processes are managed with a trauma-informed lens that emphasizes compassion and understanding,” Fisk said in a statement.
