Several agencies will take part in an emergency mass casualty training exercise early Oct. 18 at the San Antonio International Airport.
The background
According to a press release, the Federal Aviation Administration requires an emergency training exercise to take place every three years in U.S. airports that have commercial air carrier service. The exercise is scheduled to happen between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
City officials said the exercise simulates a real-world incident with volunteers portraying injured passengers being rescued, treated and transported to hospitals by first responders. The exercise involves hundreds of people working together.
