The details
The plan looks to improve sidewalks, bike lanes and trails across New Braunfels, according to agenda documents.
The plan will include a:
- Pedestrian network map showing residents where sidewalks exist and where more are needed.
- Bicycle network map showcasing current bike routes and offering safer routes for riders.
- Priority project list of short and long-term projects.
- Implementation plan which shows funding options, policies and ways to track progress.
The project is fully funded by the city’s fiscal year 2025 Transportation and Capital Improvements budget, according to agenda documents.
These funds help support infrastructure projects citywide, such as sidewalks, streets, bikeways and traffic improvements. The plan will also continue the development of the 2019 Hike and Bike Plan with a “stronger focus on projects and implementation,” according to agenda documents.
Looking ahead
The plan is slated to be completed in July of 2026, according to agenda documents.
