The building is now home to Two Rivers High School and the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, according to a news release.
Maria’s Closet—a resource that provides students in need with clothing, shoes, toiletries and backpacks—and additional district staff offices have also relocated to the “old” Lamar Elementary. The building originally opened in 1923 and served first through sixth grade students, the release states.
What they’re saying
Board President Eric Bergquist said the district will have the opportunity to reflect on its continued commitment of providing a quality education to each student as they embark on the next chapter of the school’s journey.
NBISD Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury said the learning and service that has always defined the Lamar campus for over a century will carry forward.
“We are proud that this historic building will continue to support students and staff in meaningful ways,” Arterbury said in the release.
