The Alamo Trust announced a public groundbreaking ceremony for the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum on Oct. 1.

The organization announced this week the ceremony is expected to be attended by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, General Land Office Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and Alamo Trust, Inc. Executive Director Dr. Kate Rogers and other dignitaries.

Scheduled to debut in 2027, the museum “will deepen the public understanding of the Alamo” through eight immersive galleries and a state-of-the-art 4D theater, from its early Indigenous inhabitants to the Texas Revolution and beyond, as stated in a news release.

As part of the $550 million Alamo Plan, the facility will house the restored Crockett and Woolworth buildings and also feature a special event space, rooftop restaurant, retail space, and will be home to the entire Phil Collins Texana Collection.
