Universal City looks to approve development agreement for food truck park

Universal City's City Council is looking to approve another development agreement for a food truck park.

What happened

The dais approved a resolution on first reading authorizing the execution of a development agreement with John Steensen & Yu Yuan for a new mobile unit food truck park at 214 Rosewood Drive on March 3. Council member Bernard Rubal was the single dissenting vote.

Since the resolution was only approved on first reading, the development agreement will have to come back to the council for final consideration. The agreement is anticipated to be presented to council for a second and final reading March 17, according to an email from Michael Cassata, Universal City's development services and economic development corporation director.

The city defines a mobile unit food truck park as three or more food trucks located on a parcel of land, according to agenda documents.

The food truck park will have space for three food trucks along with 10 parking spaces. The outdoor eating area will be equipped with four tables. There will also be a trash enclosure, bicycle racks and outdoor bathrooms, according to agenda documents.
