Schertz officials working on comprehensive plan to envision growth for next 20-30 years

City of Schertz officials have begun the starting stages of updating the comprehensive plan, which would create a plan for the city through 2044.

The purpose of the plan is to set a vision for the growth of the city over the next 20 to 30 years with focuses on:

• Land use
• Transportation
• Parks
• Economic development
• Housing
• Implementation

As part of the process, city officials will host community meetings, surveys and other engagement opportunities to allow residents the opportunity to provide feedback on the vision for the city.

To share information with residents, city officials created a website that is updated with the planning stages and gives access to surveys for residents to complete.

The goal is to have the plan completed by the end of the year, with the project still in the initiation phase. Over the next few months, the plan will be drafted, developed and finalized.
