Schertz City Council approves first reading of ordinance for multisport complex

Schertz City Council on March 5 held the first public hearing to rezone 26.11 acres of land for the development of a commercial multisport complex.

According to documents submitted to City Council, the property is owned by John Del Toro and will be located off FM 1518.

During the March 5 meeting, Del Toro told City Council the complex would be used for volleyball starting out, with the potential to expand capabilities in the future.

“[The decision] was really what is the best value we can add to the city and the community,” Del Toro said. “For this initial step, this was it. Volleyball has an immediate need.”

City Council unanimously approved the first reading of the ordinance for the rezoning.
