New Census Bureau data shows increases to population in Schertz, Cibolo

The city of Cibolo saw a population growth rate of 20.98%, increasing from 27,963 in 2018 to 33,829 in 2023.

Over the past bureau data sets, both cities have continued to grow in population as more people move to the I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin.

New Braunfels, which is one of the fastest growing cities in the San Antonio region, had an increase of 32.32%.

In Schertz, the largest increase in population was with those over the age of 80, with an increase of 41.91%. This group went from 964 people in 2018 to 1,368 in 2023.

The second largest increase was ages 60-79, increasing from 6,157 to 7,188, representing a 16.75% increase.

The group with the largest total population was ages 40-59, representing 11,947 total residents. While the largest increases were in older populations, the city maintains a median age of around 38.

Cibolo experienced similar growth across age ranges, with residents ages 60-79 increasing by 72.12%.

The second largest increase was with residents over the age of 80, which increased from 260 to 400, representing a 53.85% change.

The group with the largest population in Cibolo was residents under the age of 20, which represents 10,606 residents. With population increases, the median age in Cibolo increased from 33.9 to 36.2.
