On March 19, Fair Oaks Ranch Police Chief Todd Smith gave the annual police department report.
“2025 was a strong year for the department,” Smith said. “We accomplished a lot, but what I am most proud of is our dedication to our community.”
Breaking it down
In 2025, the city of Fair Oaks Ranch received 5,312 calls for service, the majority of which were animal services calls and security checks. The department received around 28% more calls than the previous year.
“That tells us two things: the community is growing, and the residents trust us to respond,” Smith said.
Response times in 2025 averaged at three minutes. This response time averages all calls, and the response time for emergency calls is less than two minutes, Smith said.
Smith said the number of cases reported has decreased compared to 2024, going from 534 to 399. In 2023, the number of cases reported was 913.
“That didn’t happen by chance,” Smith said. “We improved case review processes, reporting methods and brought on experienced investigators who strengthened how we do the work.”
Alongside decreases in reported cases, the police department saw declines in emergency detentions, assaults, thefts and custodial arrests.
The two categories the department saw increases in were burglary of vehicles and DWI arrests. Smith said all reported vehicle burglaries were instances where the vehicle was left unlocked.
