City of San Antonio invites neighborhood associations, community organizations to register, stay informed on city happenings

The San Antonio Communications and Engagement Department invites all neighborhood associations, homeowner associations and community organizations to register their group with the city.

The city’s Communications and Engagement Director Alanna Reed said registering with the municipal government will allow neighborhood associations and other community groups based in San Antonio city limits to update their information with the city and to better receive vital messages directly from the local government.

“Our registry is a great way to find out about upcoming events, policy changes, ways to engage with the city and information during emergencies,” Reed said in a statement.

A news release said the Association and Organization Registry serves as a communications tool for city departments, council districts and the community. The release also said the city uses the registry to let registered groups know of news and events in their area.

Additionally, groups will receive updates during emergency situations to share with their members, the release said.

City officials said registered groups can also receive notices from the San Antonio Development Services Department about development, including zoning and planning cases.

Registered groups enjoy other benefits such as no-cost reservations for meeting space at city libraries and invitations to special city events and programs, the release said, adding that the publicly available registry also allows residents, developers and groups to connect with each other.
