The Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services on Aug. 17 celebrated the opening of a satellite office at Wayland Baptist University, located at 8300 Pat Booker Road, Live Oak.
In March, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Wayland Baptist University and Bexar County for the university to house the satellite office space and utilities at no cost to the county.
Dignitaries and speakers during the opening event included Keith Wilson and Calvin Henry from the military and veterans services department; Live Oak City Manager Glen Martel; Albert Uresti, Bexar County tax assessor-collector; Tommy Calvert, Bexar County Precinct 4 commissioner; Wayland Baptist University Dean Glenn Simmons; and Toro Martinez, a representative from U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar's office.
The office will provide local assistance to veterans or military personnel active or transitioning, and their families.
