Bexar County awards $202K in grants to boost 5 local tech firms

Bexar County Commissioners Court voted Aug. 8 to approve the total award of $202,028 in Innovation Fund Grants to five local companies that were awarded a Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer grant from the federal government in 2022.

Background

The federal SBIR and STTR programs are designed to support small businesses and research institutions in their mission to develop advanced technologies and solutions across an array of sectors, a news release states.

The awarded companies were awarded the following amounts:

• Forward Edge-AI: $50,000
• Astroport Space Technologies Inc.: $50,000
• Irys Technologies Inc.: $14,511.19
• Leaptran Inc.: $50,000
• Elevate Systems: $37,517.83
