Preparing to reopen its home rehabilitation program, the city of San Antonio is hosting information sessions now through Oct. 19 to help homeowners learn how to apply in advance of the application period from Oct. 23 to Nov. 20.
The background
The city’s home rehabilitation program provides funding through a forgivable loan to low- and moderate-income San Antonio households to help with home rehabilitation to improve health, safety and/or code issues. The program helps with:
- Major rehabilitation or reconstruction, covering repairs to two or more areas of a home’s system, such as the foundation, electrical, plumbing, heating and/or air conditioning, and structural issues
- Minor rehabilitation, which addresses an isolated issue, such as siding, walk-in showers, plumbing, window replacement, water heater replacement and painting
- The Under 1 Roof program, which provides roof shingle replacement with shasta white shingles that improve a home’s energy efficiency
