Carpenter leads Kendall County Precinct 4 race, Precinct 2 heading to runoff election

April 27 is the last day to register to vote in the May 26 runoff election, and early voting will begin on May 18.

In the Republican primary election for Kendall County, two county commissioner seats are on the ballot.

Precinct 2 incumbent Andra Wisian is running against J.C. Taylor and Richard Elkins, while Precinct 4 incumbent Chad Carpenter is running against Brett D’Spain. Both incumbents are leading their respective races, according to early vote totals.

What’s happening?

During the early voting period, 18.89% of registered voters cast a ballot, totaling 7,528 residents at the polls.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Andra Wisian received 923, or 47.85%, of early votes, and J.C. Taylor trails Wisian with 771, or 39.97%, of early votes. Richard Elkins received 235, or 12.18%, of early votes.

Precinct 2 covers the southeastern portion of the county, including areas of Fair Oaks Ranch, Boerne and Bergheim.

With three candidates on the ballot, the Precinct 2 race has the potential of resulting in a runoff election should no candidate receive more than 50% of the total votes. In the case of a runoff, the top two vote-getters will move on to the May 26 election.

What else?

In the race for Precinct 4, incumbent Chad Carpenter leads with 719, or 61.61%, of early votes, while opponent Brett D’Spain received 448, or 38.39%, of early votes.

Precinct 4 covers the western portion of the county, including Comfort and Waring.

No Democratic candidates filed for either commissioner race, meaning the winner of the Republican primary will become the commissioner following the November election.
