Originally planned for a 2025 construction, the project was delayed to 2026 due to the planned installation of a new sewer line along the road.
The details
The $4.9 million Dietz Elkhorn project will reconstruct the roadway while adding new shoulders for pedestrians, bikes and carts. Construction will span from Fair Oaks Parkway to FM 3351.
In May, a Utility Service Agreement between the city of Fair Oaks Ranch and AD Acquisitions, LLC was approved, providing water and wastewater services for a new residential development off Ralph Fair Road.
The developer of the Corley Tract will pay for a water main expansion to the development, which was a project the city budgeted for. With the agreement, the city will save around $650,000 from the project cost, as discussed by City Council on May 1.
To avoid the expansion project beginning after the reconstruction was underway, city staff decided to push the road project back so both projects could be under construction around the same time.
Upon construction start, the project is expected to take around 12-15 months to complete. Sections of the roadway are planned to be opened during construction. The city is slated to advertise the project for bids in the fall.
