What we know
Communications Director Chris Shadrock said the Engineering and Mobility Department is taking a two-phased approach to the roundabout project at Johns Road and School Street, and the work has been scheduled to align with Boerne ISD’s summer breaks to reduce disruption as best as possible.
The first phase will focus on utility relocation work, resulting in closures at the intersection for around one month.
Phase two is expected to be completed in summer 2026, which includes the actual construction of the roundabout. Construction is expected to take approximately 10-12 weeks.
How we got here
In 2022, Boerne voters approved $23 million in bond projects for Streets and Mobility improvements.
One of those improvement categories was traffic signals and intersections, highlighting Adler Road and North Esser Road, North Main Street and Johns Road, and North School Street and Johns Road.
Projects for Fiscal Year 2024-25 were presented to City Council on July 9, highlighting the roundabout work.
