A new nonprofit organization is planting its roots in the Hill Country, offering a unique form of therapy to its clients.

What you need to know

Led by Theresa Schultz, Sophia's Hope Ranch is dedicated to family behavioral health services such as counseling and therapy.

Currently, Schultz said that while they’re still searching for a location to establish in-person offices, she’s already raising awareness in Boerne.

A meet-and-greet for the nonprofit will be held at DeVino Cellars in Boerne on Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

At this time, no physical location exists, but Schultz said they’re in the process of searching for a property so they can open sometime in 2026.

“We’re looking at locations all over the Boerne area,” Schultz said.

She also said they’re looking at partnering with local ranches to make the process easier.

What’s special about it

Schultz said that they’ll be offering the following services:
  • Equine therapy
  • Play therapy
  • Expressive art therapy
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention, or TBRI
To Schultz, equine therapy is what makes her blossoming organization stand out.

“It brings people a compassionate connection with an animal,” she said.

Clients would be able to hang out with horses as a part of their therapy journey.
