In 2025, the police department had:
- 8,547 total traffic stops
- 338 total searches during those traffic stops
- 138 times contraband was discovered during searches
- 119 arrests made from those traffic stops
Assistant Chief of Police Cody Lackey said emergency detentions rose 33%, partly because the city is the primary area in the county with an emergency room. Mental health crisis calls also increased, but Lackey said this increase was due to reclassifications.
“A lot of calls that don’t really fit a category would go under miscellaneous activity,” Lackey said. “We’re now using [mental health] to capture that metric.”
Animal care intake increased from 1,070 in 2024 to 1,185 in 2025. Despite this increase, the number of stray and owner-surrendered animals decreased.
