The gateway feature at Fair Oaks Parkway and Leslie Pfeiffer Drive has been completed, marking a milestone in recognizing the history and image of Fair Oaks Ranch.

City officials, staff and residents celebrated the completion Sept. 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

About the project

The project broke ground in June, following approval from City Council in April.

Over the last few years, a committee of residents and city leaders has worked to develop a project that fits the city's identity.

The original project cost was estimated at $500,000, but was reduced to half by the final design, coming in around $224,840.

Funding for the project is provided through grant funds from the Municipal Development District, which raises money through city sales tax.

What they’re saying

Mayor Greg Maxton highlighted the work to complete this project, which has been in early discussions since the former feature was removed during the I-10 expansion.

While Maxton complimented the work of all volunteers and staff, he made note of the work by Project Manager Kelsey Delgado, who guided the project through every step of construction.

Former council member Laura Koerner and current council member Scott Parker helped spearhead the project alongside residents and staff.

Koerner said the resident feedback helped ensure the project matched the heritage of Fair Oaks Ranch, honoring the history of the original ranch owned by Ralph Fair.

“More than materials and the funding, what makes the gateway truly meaningful is what it symbolises,” Koerner said. “It marks the entrance to our shared community defined by civic pride, neighborly spirit and commitment to honoring our heritage while looking towards our future.”
