Early voting for the May 3 elections begins April 22, giving Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch voters a week of early voting time before election day.

The early voting period runs through April 29, with the exception of April 27. Early voting hours are from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. April 22-25 and 10 p.m.-4 p.m. April 26. Voting hours April 28 and 29 will be 7 a.m.-7 p.m., according to the Kendall County website.

What you need to know

Boerne Mayor Frank Ritchie will run against Laura Haning, former planning and community development director for the city. District 2 incumbent Sharon Wright will run against Joe Bateman.

While the District 4 seat was up for election in May, incumbent Bret Bunker will run unopposed. The city of Boerne will also have a special election for four city charter amendments.


Fair Oaks Ranch is slated to get one new council member for the Place 4 seat, currently held by Laura Koerner. Dale Pearson and James Roff will be on the May ballot for the council seat.

For Place 3, incumbent Ruben Olvera will run against Scott Rose, while incumbent Scott Parker will be on the ballot for the Place 5 seat against Kevin Cox.

Two Boerne ISD races will be on the ballot, including Place 4, which will be contested between incumbent Maritza Gonzalez-Cooper and Sarah Faulkenberry.

For the Place 5 seat, voters will choose between incumbent Garrett Wilson and Scott Newberry.

Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch residents will have two voting centers during the early voting period:
  • Kendall County Courthouse Annex, 221 Fawn Valley Drive, Boerne
  • Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department, 7286 Dietz Elkhorn Road, Fair Oaks Ranch
