Public works, fire station projects up for vote in Round Rock

Round Rock City Council will consider a slate of public infrastructure projects at its Aug. 14 meeting, including expanding the Bob Bennett Public Works Building and constructing a new fire station.

The city will vote on the purchase of land near the Bob Bennett Complex owned by SPJST Lodge 187, a chapter of a Czech fraternal benefit society. Coming out to $1.4 million, the acquisition of the 2.9-acre property will further the building’s expansion.

The Bob Bennett Complex, which houses the city's public works divisions, is in Phase 2 of an expansion to include the community and neighborhood services and general services departments. The expansion is estimated to be fully complete by 2029.

Also on the agenda

City Council will also consider a purchase agreement with Ascension Seton Williamson hospital to acquire property to construct Fire Station No. 11.

Costs for the 2.45 acres of land on Seton Parkway and University Boulevard come out to $489,078 and will be funded by the voter-approved 2023 general obligation bonds.
