Area veterans and their families gathered in Round Rock's Old Settler's Park on Nov. 11.
In partnership with the Round Rock Veterans Coalition, the city held its first event honoring veterans at the Flag Plaza in Yonders Point, which was completed in time for Memorial Day earlier this year. In addition to remarks given by Mayor Craig Morgan and Place 1 Council Member Michelle Ly, Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Hester of the Army Futures Command based in Austin spoke at the event. The Stony Point High School JROTC also presented the colors during the ceremony recognizing each branch of the military.
The event was planned to continue later in the afternoon with live music and local vendors, but this part of the event was canceled due to stormy weather.
