Some Round Rock ISD students will have an additional free school meal this fall based on their eligibility for the free and reduced-price lunch program.
What's happening?
RRISD announced Aug. 14 that free and reduced-price lunch program benefits were expanded by the 88th Legislature to include free breakfast for students qualifying for reduced-price lunch. The program expansion will last for two years with a start date of Aug. 15.
About the program
The free and reduced-price lunch program provides meals to qualifying students at no cost or a reduced cost based on family income. Families who receive assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families will automatically qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Other qualification criteria include family income level; program participation, such as Head Start; and student status.
