Austin Community College’s automotive technology and advanced manufacturing facilities are on track to welcome students for the fall 2026 semester, said Sydney Pruitt, senior media relations coordinator.
Pruitt said construction of the facilities on the Round Rock campus is over 90% complete.
Why it matters
The automotive technology and advanced manufacturing programs teach students how to operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment in manufacturing, automotives and semiconductor industries, according to the degree plans. Specialized skills in these areas are in high demand across Central Texas.
The new facilities will create a hands-on training environment for students to learn the current technology and techniques that companies use, according to the college’s website. The facility will allow the college to offer a more efficient and up-to-date program.

“Manufacturing is evolving rapidly with advances in automation, robotics and semiconductor production, creating a pressing demand for skilled technicians and engineers,” Dean of Advanced Manufacturing Dr. Laura Marmolejo, said in a press release. “This is about building stronger career pathways for our students and securing a skilled workforce to keep Central Texas at the forefront of innovation.”
What’s next
While the advanced manufacturing building undergoes inspection, final touches—such as flooring, painting and ceiling tile installation—are wrapping up in the automotive technology facility. Furniture and technology will be moved into both buildings in late July through mid-August.
