As Round Rock continues to grow, one local business is working to preserve the sense of connection that once defined the city’s small-town charm.
Nearly a year after opening, Purely Provisions has become more than a coffee shop or cocktail spot. It’s a gathering place where neighbors can linger over brunch, catch a game on the patio or strike up a conversation with someone new.
The backstory
Kyle Walker and Angie Zuniga partnered up with Cory and Lisa Shaw to create Purely Provisions with a clear vision in mind.
“I think Purely was built upon community,” Zuniga said. “That was Cory and Lisa’s vision. They saw Round Rock as such a community place where you could show up and hang out with your friends, or show up by yourself and make a friend.”
Zuniga said the goal was to create a space for people to gather as cities like Round Rock grow and lose their small town feel.
What started as a simple coffee shop concept evolved into what Purely Provisions is today—a hybrid destination offering coffee, cuisine and craft beverages. With margaritas and espresso martinis on tap and Sunday brunch specials, the spot offers something for everyone.
“There’s always a hello and always a goodbye,” Walker said. “We just try to make people feel like family when they walk in and when they leave.”
What’s special about it?
The location itself offers plenty of seating for sitting and enjoying a coffee, and a large outdoor area and bar with screens to watch sporting events.
Purely Provisions strives to make a commitment to simplicity through sourcing the freshest local ingredients possible. TrueHarvest, a local farm in Belton, supplies greens and Redbird Farms provides chicken. Eggs at Purely Provisions are cage free and they fry exclusively in 100% tallow.
“Having local Texas everything, there’s no hard decisions with it,” Walker said. “If we can do it local, that’s the direction we’re going to do it.”
The menu blends comfort food with fresh, locally inspired flavors. Fresh salads and sandwiches such as the Round Rock spicy chicken and a hot Italian are on the menu, as well as breakfast options such as tacos and chilaquiles served until 3 p.m.
One more thing
On June 27, Purely Provisions will celebrate one year with plenty of festivities throughout the day.
“I think we’re blown away by the positive results we’ve had in the first year,” Zuniga said. “Every month gets more invigorating and exciting, and our guests keep showing up and surprising us.”
