Area residents looking to utilize public transportation services from the city of Round Rock may soon have a new public transit option: mobility on demand.
If approved, residents would be able to utilize the shared, point-to-point ride service starting mid-to-late June, Round Rock Transportation Director Gary Hudder said.
Services under consideration via a $6.25 million contract with zTrip, which officials will vote on March 23, would also offer curb-to-curb services for disabled riders. All riders would be able to use the point-to-point service, which would operate similarly to bus stops using designated system pickup and drop-off spots.
Funding for the proposal would come from the city's general fund and federal grant funds in an even split, Hudder said.
