1. Grey Orchard Modern American
Owned by James Sun, the restaurant took over the former space of Denny’s on I-35 in Round Rock. Cole Fitzgerald, who earned a Michelin Guide mention in 2023, leads the kitchen. The restaurant's dinner menu includes familiar favorites, such as smash burgers, corn dog fried okra, grilled chicken and fried fish sandwiches as well as fusion dishes, including duck banh mi, bao sliders and bang bang shrimp. The restaurant serves house specialty cocktails, mocktails, wine, bottled beers, cider and local draft beer from Jester King Brewery.
2. Mi Mundo Coffeehouse & Roastery
The coffeehouse serves organic coffee, espresso drinks, teas and smoothies, and sells bags of freshly roasted fair-trade beans in store and online. The business also sells baked goods, tamales and breakfast tacos. The original location at 106 S. Mays St., Round Rock, first opened in 2020.
3. Living Bliss Wellness Boutique
The business, owned by Zhe Song and Tadd Riley, offers holistic wellness coaching to help clients set goals and make sustainable lifestyle changes. Additionally, it has infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy services, and carries lines of clean products, including household cleaners, skincare and supplements.
4. Slim Chickens
The fried chicken restaurant's menu includes a variety of chicken wings, tenders and sandwiches alongside Southern-style sides, such as macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and fried pickles.

5. ETS Performance
Founded in 2010 by Ryan and Heidi Englebert, the business—which has more than 50 locations across the country—offers professional coaching to youth athletes. The facility provides speed training, strength programs and athletic development; training for collegiate and professional athletes; and performance training designed for teams.
6. Once Upon a Child
The children’s clothing consignment store will reopen under new management in the space it previously occupied in the Renaissance Square shopping center. The retailer buys and sells gently used kids clothing, shoes, toys and baby gear.
7. Rush Bowls
Located in the La Frontera retail center, the business's menu includes a variety of smoothie bowls, blended smoothie beverages, grab-and-go granola, banana bread and coconut bites as well as refresher-style beverages called revivers and cold-brewed coffee.
8. Sweet Irene’s
The downtown boutique will sell clothing for women and children, candles, jewelry, and home decor with some stock supplied by local vendors. Locally owned by Melissa Moody, the boutique's name is a nod to her grandmother, Irene, a Dallas socialite.

9. iScream Gelato
Construction on a new gelato shop is set to take place between July and October. The business, which has one other Texas location, uses fresh ingredients sourced from Italy to make gourmet, handcrafted desserts in a variety of flavors as well as milkshakes, bubble waffle cones, Belgian waffles, pancakes, crepes, an assortment of espresso beverages, and more.
10. Wingstop
The $300,000 renovation that will allow the fast-food wing chain to move in is expected to occur between the end of September and beginning of December. The restaurant sells chicken wings, sandwiches and tenders, alongside fries, Cajun fried corn and veggie sticks.
11. Universal Distribution
A second local warehouse for the distributor of comic books, trading cards, collectible toys and figurines, card games and board games will be located in the Round Rock 45 industrial park. Construction is expected to take place between the end of July and late September. The company has an existing warehouse on Picadilly Drive.
12. Burger King
The fast-food chain will undergo an interior and exterior remodel to bring the 2,607-square-foot building into new branding standards. Construction will occur between late September and early November. The restaurant serves burgers, including the Whopper, as well as chicken and fish sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast items.
Expansions
13. The Ruby Hotel & Bar
The 2,500-square-foot expansion will see an existing 1965 home transformed into an event space to increase the hotel's capacity to host weddings, corporate gatherings, conferences and special events. Once renovated, the new space will be able to host 150 seated guests, with a total capacity of 225 guests when combined with the adjacent saloon and gathering spaces.

14. Lamppost Coffee
The coffee shop marked five years of operation at its downtown location July 3. The Round Rock-based coffee brand also has locations in Austin, Georgetown and Hutto.
15. Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Hopdoddy Burger Bar has been acquired by New York-based Founders Table Restaurant Group. Hopdoddy was founded in Austin in 2010 and has 47 locations today, including in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.
16. Cotton Patch Cafe
The Southlake-based restaurant chain announced June 29 that it has been acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants from Altamont Capital Partners. Cotton Patch Cafe offers a variety of Southern staples, including chicken fried steak, roasted turkey and meatloaf as well as steak, burgers and sandwiches from the grill.
Lone Star Circle of Care
Through the Big Pink Bus, the health care provider has brought mobile mammography and breast cancer screening services to communities across Central Texas for five years. The Big Pink Bus first launched in July 2021.
