The McNeil Road extension is now open to Burnet Street with the portion connecting to Lampasas Street set to be completed in December, according to the city of Round Rock. Construction on the second phase of the extension, which will connect Burnet to Georgetown Street as well as Lewis, Stone and Black streets, is slated to begin in early spring next year. The extension is aimed at creating a bypass of downtown Round Rock, according to the city.
