In-N-Out Burger aims to open Round Rock location in 2013

The first In-N-Out Burger location in Central Texas is expected to be built and running in Round Rock in 2013, according to a company representative.

However, Carl Van Fleet, In-N-Out Burger vice president of Planning and Development, said April 2 the company is not yet ready to release an officially planned opening date.

"We remain very enthusiastic about the Round Rock location, although we still don't have a set date for the start of construction," Van Fleet said. "I can say that we do hope to be open there by the end of this year."

The California-based restaurant chain has secured all of the city permitting and approval necessary to begin construction. On Aug. 23, Round Rock City Council amended its zoning ordinances at the planned site at 4251 N. I-35 next to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse to allow for a drive-thru at the location.

"[In-N-Out] have all of their permits, so it is ready to go," Round Rock Planning Director Brad Wiseman said. "Whenever they are ready, they can get after it."

Van Fleet said the time period between the start of construction and the opening of a restaurant is typically four to five months.

"So once construction begins, we'll be able to be a little more specific [about the opening date]," he said.

Van Fleet also confirmed in February In-N-Out's interest in establishing a Cedar Park location but would not confirm if, when or where the location would be built.
