Five more red-light cameras go live in Round Rock

David Bartels, whose last day as Round Rock planning and programs administrator was March 23, said there would be one more batch of cameras installed to bring the total number of cameras in the city to 10.

Bartels also said the city would likely not have a clear idea of how the program was working until after six months or a year of looking at the effect the cameras have.

Intersections were chosen based on crash data, citation data and officer input. The cameras were approved nearly a year ago on May 26, 2011, and were one of the few controversial split votes for the Round Rock City Council. The cameras were approved 5–2, with council members Craig Morgan and Joe Clifford dissenting.
